NEW LEGION OF ADMIRERS FOR TRION AIR PURIFIERS

The Basingstoke Ex-Services Club is one of the first venues to benefit from installation of Trion's newly launched 120 range of compact, high efficiency electrostatic air purifiers.

Two Trion 120 units and three flush-mount 1000 units, supplied by Trion distributor Thermofrost Cyro, have been fitted in this recently opened, modern building to remove tobacco smoke and unwanted cooking odours from the Club's popular bar and food areas. Design innovations built into the new 120 unit have proved especially useful to Hampshire based air conditioning and refrigeration contractor RPD (Farnham) Ltd, ensuring that project requirements for air cleaning efficiency and ease of installation could be comfortably met.

"When we looked closely at the site, it became clear that virtually every customer, particularly in the Metcalf Bar, was a smoker" explains RPD (Farnham) Ltd's Managing Director, Richard Hammock. "This small but very busy room was also adjacent to the Club's restaurant area. Drifting smells from cooked food combined with cigarette smoke and odour to create an unpleasant atmosphere in the bar, which seemed a lot worse when the cooling only air conditioning was in operation. Installing air purifiers was essential to maintain a comfortable, clean-smelling environment that all visitors to the bar could enjoy".

RPD Farnham Ltd was also faced with particular challenges on unit installation. There was no available wall space in the Metcalf Bar for air cleaner installation whilst the low ceiling height and minimal ceiling void meant that only an especially discreet, ceiling recessed solution could work. Trion's new compact 120 units fitted the bill perfectly.

With a very low profile of just 242mm, these advanced air purifiers were able to fit neatly within the ceiling space, giving a clean, attractive appearance without intruding at all into the limited headroom space of the Bar area itself. Designed to provide efficient air purifying performance at an air volume rate up to 1680m3/hr, the Trion units feature two 150mm fresh air inlets, enabling fresh air to be drawn in through the unit, entrained with re-circulated air and cleaned. Units also incorporate innovative arc suppression circuitry as standard which minimises "cracking".

Installation of the new units was completed in December 1999. As part of the same project, RPD (Farnham) also fitted four Trion ceiling mounted Supreme air purifiers to serve restaurant, dance and other drinking areas within the Club.

Trion has over 50 years experience at the forefront of air cleaning technology and provides the hospitality sector with the widest range of electrostatic air purifiers on the market. These include the new series 60 unit (a smaller version of the series 120 unit installed at the Basingstoke Ex-Services Club), the new AL, G, and FL range of ultra-modern wall and ceiling mounted air purifiers together with the established Space Saver, Profile, Supreme and Max V units.

From its inception Trion has vigorously supported both the AIR Campaign and the test procedures carried out by BSRIA to verify noise levels, air volumes and cleaning efficiency of air purifiers as part of the Public Places Charter (PPC). All Trion products are being tested under this initiative and the results will be published in due course.
